Age: 70

Jerry Glen Ball, age 70, a resident of Wichita Falls, TX passed away on Monday, November 21, 2022.  A memorial service was held on Wednesday, November 30th at 1:00 p.m. at the Ryan Cemetery, under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home.

 Jerry was born September 10, 1952 in Ryan, OK to Lois D. and Roberta (Cleveland) Ball.  After his graduation he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his two children: Jerry Glen Ball, and Sandra Ball, both of Germany;  two brothers: David Charles Ball and wife Bonnie, Nocona, TX, and Dorman Ray Ball, Thomas, OK; five sisters: Shirley Jean Oschner and husband Robert, Denver, CO, Margaret June Bonhom, Bowie, TX, Sandra May Belew and husband Harold, Decatur, TX, Brenda Harless, Azle, TX, and Norma Fay Walker and husband Steve, Dallas, TX; three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Lydia Marie (Lacey) Mayfield

Lydia Marie (Lacey) Mayfield, 73, passed from this life Sunday, May 13, 2018. She was born July 18, 1944, in Dermott, Arkansas, to Charles and Inez Lacey. Lydia married Raymond Mayfield on June 14, 1963 in Waxahachie, Texas.  Lydia’s husband Raymond has pastored for 59 years all over the southern United States. Lydia and Raymond moved to Southern Oklahoma in 2006 to pastor The Corum Assembly of God Church and later The Waurika Assembly of God Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and her sister-in-law Sharon Stanley.

Survivors Include: Her husband, Raymond Mayfield of the home in Waurika, OK; Her sons – Barry Mayfield and wife Lesley of Ponca City, OK, Keith Mayfield of Abilene, TX, and Kent Mayfield of Abilene, TX; Grandchildren – Faith Logan, Emily Mayfield, and Holly Mayfield; Great-Grandchildren – Aletha, Amillia, Valerie, Aria, and Archer; and one Brother-in-law – Eddie Mayfield.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 17, 2018, at the Assembly of God Church in Waurika with H Franklin Cargill, Oklahoma District Superintendent of the Assembly of God, officiating. Burial will be in the Newkirk, Oklahoma cemetery Friday, May 18, 2018 at 3:00 PM under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home in Waurika, Oklahoma.

Eddy Joe Reese

Eddy Joe Reese, 54, of Waurika Lake, Oklahoma, passed from this life July 16, 2019. He was born December 8, 1964, in Henrietta, Texas, to E.J. and Annelise Reese. When he was about eight years old he would go with his mother when she cleaned the grain elevator. She looked up one day to find him coming around the corner in the grain truck, seated on the lap of Robert “Goober” Estes. He married Nanon Boswell June 8, 1984, in Byers, Texas. They were high school sweethearts, dating for five years before they married. They had a special bond and were soulmates, creating many memories over the forty years they were together. Over the years he drove trucks for Parker Mayo – hauling feed, Berend Brothers – eggs, Central Freight – P & D Driver, Mangum Oil and Gas – delivering propane, David England Construction – hauling rock, Denny Cothren – hauling asphalt, and W W Construction and when the oppportunity arose he was accompanied by Nan, his “right hand.” He was owner of the Waurika Lake Marina with his wife Nanon for nineteen years.

Eddy grew up in Byers, Texas and moved to Waurika, Oklahoma in 2000, after purchasing the Waurika Lake Marina. He graduated from Byers High School in 1983. In high school he played basketball and was a star greenhand and a star chapter greenhand in FFA and had a lone star farmer degree. He won the Dekalb Award and “Best All Around Boy” in his senior year. He was a Methodist. While living in Byers he served on the City Council as Mayor pro tem and was a volunteer fireman. He watched and loved football and going out to eat. He enjoyed visiting and working over the phone. He enjoyed fishing and took pride in trucking. He took care of his family and business. He had a very kind heart and loved spending time with Nan and Jemma.

He was preceded in death by his parents E.J. and Ann Reese, his brother Harold Reese, his sister Becky Reese and his father-in-law Freddy Boswell.

Survivors include: his wife of thirty-five years Nanon (Boswell) Reese, of the home in Waurika Lake, OK, furbaby Jemma Jewel; sisters Jeannie and her husband Ken Burris of Byers, TX; mother-in-law Shirley Boswell of Waurika Lake, OK; sisters-in-law Lorrie and her husband Quint Hague of Wichita Falls, TX, and Kimmie and her husband Bobbie Truver of New York; nieces Chelby and her husband Jordan Goad of Duncan, OK, Angela and her husband Randy Long of Byers, TX, and Joanie Truver of New York; nephews Rowdy Clayton and his wife Katie of Iowa Park, TX, Kevin Burris of Byers, TX, Jason Fincher of New York; and great nephew Chance Long of Byers, TX.

A Celebration of Life will was held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 20, 2019, at the Dudley Funeral Home Chapel in Waurika, with Jim Doan officiating. Memorials may be made to the Jim Thorpe Rehab in Oklahoma in southwestern Oklahoma City.

Jonnie (Peck) Parker

Jonnie (Peck) Parker, 101, of Lawton, Oklahoma, passed from this life July 16, 2019. She was born June 10, 1918, in Duncan, Oklahoma, to Benjamin Grant and Clara Ann (Kunkel) Peck. She married Clyde L. Parker September 3, 1935, in Waurika, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death February 28, 2007. She worked as a teacher in the Claypool School and in administration and price support for the USDA.

She lived in Jefferson County, Oklahoma from 1925 to 2004. She belonged to the Nazarene Church and later the Methodist Church. She loved to sew and quilt. She always made sure every stitch was perfect. She sewed all of her girls’ clothes including Dortha’s wedding dress. She also loved reading her Bible every day.

Jonnie was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four siblings – Jack Davis Peck, Virgie Marie Peck Pollan, Donald Leroy Peck, and James Otis Peck, and her son-in-law.

Survivors include: two daughters – Ruth Klydene (Parker) Riggs of Alliance, OK, and Dortha Jean (Parker) and her husband Tom Biggs of Medicine Park, OK; one brother – B.G. Peck II of Duncan, OK; four grandchildren – Rickey Riggs, Tommy Riggs, Lesli Jacobs and Jake Jacobs; four great-grandchildren – Matthew Allen Riggs, Chase Parker Jacobs, Joshua Ryan Jacobs, and Bradley Reese Jacobs; and three great-great-grandchildren – Ryker Riggs, Everett Rebecca Jacobs and Lane Ryan Jacobs.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM, Thursday, July 18, 2019, at the First United Methodist Church in Waurika with Adam Brinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls.

Ashlee Kalyn (Poage) Horton

Ashlee Kalyn (Poage) Horton, 27, passed away on February 10, 2018 in Midland, Texas. Ashlee was born February 5, 1991, to Michael Poage and Bambi Martin, in Lawton, Oklahoma.

She leaves behind three children, Nicholas Poage, Cheyenne Horton, Mansfield Texas and Colton Utz, Wichita Falls, Texas. Ashlee is survived by brothers: Cody Poage, Carrollton, Texas, nathan Poage, Wichita Falls, Texas, Lain Poage, Comanche, Oklahoma, Johnathan and Zachary Briscoe, Grapevine, Texas. sisters: Nichole Poage, Wichita Falls, Texas, Karli Poage, Comanche, Oklahoma. Ashlee was blessed to not only have one mom, she is survived by her moms: Bambi Martin, Lubbock, Texas, Layla Provost, Wichita Falls, Texas and Jordan Poage, Comanche, Oklahoma. Stepfather: Jeff Briscoe, Grapevine, Texas, her Grandparents: Patsy and James Perry, Miami, Oklahoma, Carolyn Martin, Lubbock, Texas, Gary Pritchett, Comanche, Oklahoma, and Marietta Poage, Ryan, Oklahoma. Many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, a niece and a nephew.

Ashlee is preceded in death by her daddy, Michael Poage and Grandfathers: Jerry Poage, Ryan, Oklahoma, James Guyan Martin, Ringling, Oklahoma, and Jim Provost, Waurika, Oklahoma.

Cremation Services were provided by Sanchez Mortician Services in Midland, Texas.

A Celebration of Life Service was February 16, 2018, 10 a.m. at Cross Brand Cowboy Church in Waurika, Oklahoma. Officiating: Pastor Bob Waitman.

Sharon Kay (Grimes) Allen

Funeral service for Sharon Kay (Grimes) Allen, age 70, of Nocona, formerly of Ryan, was held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 26, 2019 at Ryan Church of Christ in Ryan, Oklahoma. Burial followed at Duncan Municipal Cemetery in Duncan, Oklahoma. Visitation was held from 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Scott Funeral Home in Saint Jo. 

Sharon passed from this life Tuesday, July 23, 2019 in Lindsay, TX after her 4th battle with cancer surrounded by her family and friends.

She was born on July 5, 1949 to John B. and Virginia (Puryer) Grimes in Saint Jo, TX. She was married to the love of her life, Donald Gene ‘Don’ Allen, before he passed on April 1, 1998.

Sharon graduated from Cooke County College as an LVN in 1978. She worked at a few local nursing facilities but spent most of her nursing career at Ryan Nursing Home where she developed lifelong friendships and devoted herself to all of her patients and coworkers.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and spent time enjoying music, drawing, and writing poetry for family members.

Sharon is survived by daughters: Michelle Gray and Fiancé Billy Gilmore of Muenster, Shawna and husband Gary Dankesreiter of Lindsay; son: Tony and wife Billie Grewing of Muenster; brother: Curtis Grimes of Grand Saline; sister: Marietta Poage of Ryan, Oklahoma; brother: Tommy and wife Patsy Martindale of Duncan; 7 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Sharon is preceded in death by husband: Don Allen; parents: John and Virginia Grimes; sisters: Betty Green and Virginia Lou Grimes; and brother-in-law: Jerry Poage.

Age: 73

Victor Grimes, 94, of Temple, Texas, passed from this life January 31, 2018. He was born August 6, 1923, in Waurika, Oklahoma, to Amos and Ada (Jenkins) Grimes. He married June Derr on April 7, 1944, in Montgomery, Alabama. He finished high school in Waurika and then attended the University of Oklahoma to play basketball. Victor served his country during World War II, in the Army Air Force/Corps 454th Bomb Group 15th Air Force. He was a B24 bomber pilot and was awarded the rank of First Lieutenant. He served in southern Italy, Germany, Arkansas, Maxwell Field Alabama, Lafayette, Louisiana, and Wichita Falls, Texas. He flew fifty-two missions and received the Purple Heart and Distinguished Flying Cross. After leaving the military Victor worked in Waurika and then moved to Oklahoma City in 1965 to work for APCO Oil. He moved to Temple, Texas, in 1978 to work for Fuel Distributors. He was a Methodist. Victor was preceded in death by his wife June Bug, one daughter Mici Grimes Autin and son-in-law Gerald Wayne Autin, his parents, brothers Valda, Vernon and Vester Grimes and their spouses, and sisters Vida Doyle and Vada Johnson and their spouses, and one niece Karen Dale Roth. Survivors include: his daughter Vici Grimes of Stillwater, OK; grandson – Colin Autin and his wife Melissa of Oklahoma City, OK; great-grandchildren – Emma Reece Autin, Marley Gwendolyn Autin and Caroline Victoria Autin, all of Oklahoma City, OK; niece Jean Johnson of Wichita Falls, TX; great-nieces Kathleen Roth, Taylor Roth, Micayla Proctor and Rebecca Roth, all from Texas, nephew Don Grimes of Dallas, TX; and niece Janell Warren from Texas. Funeral services for Mr. Grimes were at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at the Dudley Funeral Home Chapel in Waurika with Adam Brinson officiating. Burial was in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Homes. Memorial contributions may be made to the Waurika First Methodist Church, 438 East D Ave., Waurika, OK 73573.

Bennie Lee Padgett (89) was born October 1, 1928 to Leo and Hazel (Seeley) Padgett in Westcliffe, Colorado and passed from this life January 30, 2018 in Waurika, Oklahoma.

​After high school graduation, Bennie joined the U.S. Navy and was proud to serve aboard the USS Rupertus DD851 where he was a gunner’s mate and petty officer second class. ​He was united in marriage to Mary Ann James on December 20, 1950 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Harrah, Oklahoma. He and Mary Ann were the owners/operators of Harrah Lockers for twenty-six years where he did custom meat processing. Along with his love of playing golf, he was a great Christian man who loved his family and great-grandchildren with all of his heart. ​Even though Bennie and Mary Ann were members of St. Theresa Catholic Church, they attended the First Baptist Church in Waurika, Oklahoma where they made many friends and became part of the church’s family. Bennie is survived by his wife of sixty-six years Mary Ann Padgett of Hastings, Oklahoma.

Three daughters, Patricia and her husband Alan Conger of Tulsa, Oklahoma and their children: Allison and Leah and one great-grandchild, Trip Bendell.  Tamara and her husband Jeff Tabor of Choctaw, Oklahoma and their children: Michelle and her husband Jared Dyer, Katie and her husband Lance Coker, Cheyenne Owens and his wife Tara, Rebecca and her husband Adam Wilson and great-grand children, Ace and Jet Dyer, Marshall, Josie, and Lexie Owens and Marena Wilson. ​Pamela Padgett of Co. Springs, CO. ​ One brother, Lonnie Padgett of Colorado Springs, CO. and one sister, Lavada Stelter of Colorado Springs, CO ​One niece, Debra and her husband Rob Cheschier, and two nephews, Thomas Yeoman and his wife Teresa, Ken Yeoman and his wife Sherree.

Beverly Barniec (O’Neal) Pratt, 69, passed from this life May 25, 2018 in Lubbock, Texas.
She was born May 25, 1949 in Terral, Oklahoma, to Barney Ray and Opal Audrey (Wallace) O’Neal. She enjoyed a career in long term care as an administrator and social worker. She was a mentor and friend to many during her years. She loved working and spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters – Neda Dittman and Barbara Johnson.
Beverly leaves behind her daughters – Tammy Hancock and her husband Thomas of Yukon, OK, and Melissa Wolfe and her husband Christopher of West Pueblo, CO; grandchildren – Kailee and Jeramie Hancock, and Christina, Greyson, and Kaitlin Wolfe, great-grandchildren – Kaden, Brookelynn, and Raena Hancock; sisters – Christine Fritts and Marie O’Neal; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving family; as well as her large long term care family.
A graveside ceremony will be held at 2:30 PM, Saturday, June 2, 2018, at the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika, OK.

Gertrude Ann (Payne) Waid, passed from this life March 9, 2018, in Waurika, Oklahoma. She was born January 10, 1933, on the family farm in Hastings, Oklahoma, to Elmer and Fern Payne. Gertrude and Pryor Waid were married June 8, 1956, in Waurika, Oklahoma.
Gertrude was a member of the Waurika Church of Christ. She took care of the Benevolence Building and the meals for funerals. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren. Painting was one of her favorite hobbies.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Charles Ray Payne.
Survivors include: Gertrude’s husband, Pryor Waid; her children, Dowd Waid, Lance Waid and his wife Sherry, Darla Barrick and her husband Jesse; her sister Cleo Williamson; her sister-in-law Donna Payne; and her beloved grandchildren Evan, Melea, Dalee, Emily, and Seth.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at the Waurika Church of Christ officiated by Noel Curington and Bob Smee.
Burial will follow in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 13, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM at the Dudley Funeral Home Chapel in Waurika.
