Walter Lee Marmor

Life-long resident of Waurika, Oklahoma, Walter Lee Marmor, 65, passed from this life May 20, 2018. He was born December 10, 1952, in Waurika, to Albert Lee and Iva Jean (McKelroy) Marmor. He was a graduate of Waurika High School. He worked as a transporter – flagger for Solitaire Mobile Homes. He also worked for Frank Head at Sooner Texaco and for more than twenty years for Junior Robertson at Junior’s Truck Stop. He enjoyed visiting with his friends over coffee at the Truck Stop and playing pool.

Walter is survived by his wife Elizabeth Hooper, his daughter Chrissy Joe Anderson, his granddaughter Janessa Anderson, and a host of friends.

No services have been scheduled at this time. 

Mary Ruth (Gaines) Brown

Mary Ruth (Gaines) Brown

December 8, 1920 – April 15, 2018

Age: 97

Mary Ruth (Gaines) Brown, 97, passed from this life April 15, 2018. She was born December 8, 1920, in Waurika, Oklahoma, to Laster and Abbie (McClellan) Gaines. She and George A. Brown were married in August of 1944 at Altus Air Force Base. She and her husband, George, were owners of the Brown Drug Store from 1951 to 1984. Mary Ruth later retired from the Jefferson County Election Board at the age of 85. She served her community as a member of the Waurika Chamber of Commerce for fifty-seven years. In 1973, she was elected as President of the Waurika Chamber of Commerce and was the first woman elected to that post in the state of Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents Laster and Abbie Gaines; her husband George A. Brown, on June 9, 1977; her brother Toby Gaines; and one granddaughter Sheila Brown.

Survivors include: her sons – Russell Allen Brown and his wife Linda of Oklahoma City, OK, and Carl David “Chuck” Brown and his wife Terri, of Waurika, OK; her daughter – Toby Ann and her husband Phillip Walker of Oklahoma City, OK; four grandchildren – Coleman Walker, Brook Walker, Jennifer Richards, and Ashley Van Rite; and ten great-grandchildren – Aiden, Anna, Olivia, Blake, Max, Addison, Brooklyn, Cameron, Addie, and Jay.

A memorial service was held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at the First United Methodist Church in Waurika with Adam Brinson and Russ Brown officiating. Pallbearers were Dick Gaines, Mike Gaines, Pat Gaines, Jerry Smith, Brad Scott, and Joe Keeter. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 438 East D, Waurika, OK 73573.

Beverly Barniec (O’Neal) Pratt

Beverly Barniec (O’Neal) Pratt, 69, passed from this life May 25, 2018 in Lubbock, Texas.
She was born May 25, 1949 in Terral, Oklahoma, to Barney Ray and Opal Audrey (Wallace) O’Neal. She enjoyed a career in long term care as an administrator and social worker. She was a mentor and friend to many during her years. She loved working and spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters – Neda Dittman and Barbara Johnson.
Beverly leaves behind her daughters – Tammy Hancock and her husband Thomas of Yukon, OK, and Melissa Wolfe and her husband Christopher of West Pueblo, CO; grandchildren – Kailee and Jeramie Hancock, and Christina, Greyson, and Kaitlin Wolfe, great-grandchildren – Kaden, Brookelynn, and Raena Hancock; sisters – Christine Fritts and Marie O’Neal; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving family; as well as her large long term care family.
A graveside ceremony will be held at 2:30 PM, Saturday, June 2, 2018, at the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika, OK.

Sam Glen Overstreet

On October 22, 2018, we lost an incredible father and friend Sammy Glen Overstreet.  Sam was survived by his wife Judy Overstreet, his youngest son Trent Overstreet, brother Jimmy Overstreet, sister-in-law Donna Givens, brother in law Rob Givens, mother in law Betty Tindol, four grandchildren Brandon, Christine, Brady and Robert Overstreet, five nieces and nephew Rebecca, Christi, Julie, Joey and Jaclyn.  Sam was preceded in death by his son Jeffrey Overstreet, father Paul Overstreet, mother Frankie Overstreet and father-in-law Robert Tindol.  He lived his life fully always putting family and friends first above himself.  He was an amazing husband, father, and friend anyone could ever wish for.  Even though his battle with cancer, he never lost sight of his family and friends.  You could always see him supporting the community or lifting our spirits as he traveled through town stopping to listen and laugh within his hometown of Ryan.  He will be missed beyond belief and we were all blessed to have him bless our lives with his life.  The family welcomes anyone who wishes to attend the memorial service on Saturday, October 27th at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church at 1002 Washington St Ryan, OK 73565. Jerry Glen Ball

Age: 70

Jerry Glen Ball, age 70, a resident of Wichita Falls, TX passed away on Monday, November 21, 2022.  A memorial service was held on Wednesday, November 30th at 1:00 p.m. at the Ryan Cemetery, under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home.

 Jerry was born September 10, 1952 in Ryan, OK to Lois D. and Roberta (Cleveland) Ball.  After his graduation he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his two children: Jerry Glen Ball, and Sandra Ball, both of Germany;  two brothers: David Charles Ball and wife Bonnie, Nocona, TX, and Dorman Ray Ball, Thomas, OK; five sisters: Shirley Jean Oschner and husband Robert, Denver, CO, Margaret June Bonhom, Bowie, TX, Sandra May Belew and husband Harold, Decatur, TX, Brenda Harless, Azle, TX, and Norma Fay Walker and husband Steve, Dallas, TX; three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Annie Rose (Perry) Peel

Age: 79

Annie Rose (Perry) Peel, 79 of Waurika Oklahoma passed away April 20, 2018 after prolonged illnesses. 

Annie was born June 20, 1938 in Fleetwood Oklahoma to John and Nadine Perry. 

She went to school in Irving Oklahoma and later graduated from Ryan High School. 

Through her years she worked at numerous places. She served as Commissioner for Waurika Housing Authority. She was a Superintendent for Wharton Assembly of God Church in Wharton Texas. She received her Missionary Certificate at Saint Joseph Indian School in Mexico. She was a Dormitory Supervisor at Wharton County Junior College. 

Her passion through her years were cooking, baking, and entertaining! She loved to travel! She loved sewing and crocheting!

Annie was preceded in death by her late Husband Clyde Earl Peel. Also her Parents John and Nadine Perry. As well as her two Brothers James Earl Perry and Jimmy Perry. 

Left to cherish her memory is her Sister Bettie Perry Armstrong of Troup Texas. Her Brother John Perry of Wharton Texas. Her Brother Arthur Perry of Petrolia Texas. Her Sister Flossie Perry James of Lindale Texas. Her Sister Gaylene Perry of Waurika Oklahoma. Her Sister Debbie Perry Shoefstall of Custer City Oklahoma.

Annie has numerous Cousins, Nieces and Nephews, as well as Great Nieces and Great Nephews. 

Annie was loved by so many and she will be forever missed!

Annie was indeed a great sister, aunt and friend!

A Memorial Service for Annie will be held at 3:00PM Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Ryan Assembly of God Church in Ryan Oklahoma.

Sue Carol Seay Dennis

November 7, 1930 – May 16, 2022

Age: 91

Sue Carol Seay Dennis was born November 7, 1930 in Oscar, Oklahoma to Wilmer and Leary Seay. She left this world May 16, 2022 in Ft. Worth, Texas  She and Skeeter Dennis were married November 20, 1950 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. She lived in Oscar prior  moving  to Ft. Worth to live with her daughter Cindy and Scooby their dog for the past four years.

She loved traveling the US with Cindy and best friend Pat. The Smoky mountains and Red River New Mexico were her favorite places to visit. She loved fishing and watching her longhorns graze out front while she sat on the front porch at the LOG cabin. She loved sharing old fun memories with friends. Some of her favorite times were spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association since 1931. She attended Cross Brand Cowboy Church in Waurika, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents – Wilmer and Leary Seay, husband – Skeeter Dennis, and son – Steve Dennis.

She is survived by daughters – LaDonna Davis and husband Jerry Dan and Cindy Phillips, son – David Dennis, her grandchildren – Zachary Smith and wife Sommer, Tyler Phillips, Binion Jones, Dakota Dennis, Courtney and Lyndle Savage, Erica Patton, and Jarret Davis, great grandchildren – Skyler and Bayler Smith and Braxton, Brooklyn and Brodie Savage. She is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews. 

Graveside service will be Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 10:00AM at Oscar Cemetery with Sean Mayfield officiating. Book signing will be Wednesday from 3-7PM at Dudley Funeral Home in Ryan.

Clovon Denise Brubaker

June 12, 1935 – February 8, 2018

Age: 82

 Clovon Denise Brubaker, a lifelong resident of Terral, passed away Thursday morning, February 8, 2018 at United Regional Hospital in Wichita Falls, TX.  She was 82 years old.  A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 10th at 1:00 p.m. at the Terral Assembly of God Church.  Interment at Terral Cemetery.

Clovon was born June 12, 1935 in Terral, to Winford L. and Verdie “Martin” Duncan.

Survivors include 1 sister, Kay Duncan Klintworth, and husband Fred, Charleston, SC; three brothers: Clindl Duncan, Houston, TX, Clinton Duncan and wife Bertha, Terral, OK, and Tommy Duncan and wifeDebbie, Terral, OK; and many other relatives and friends.

Bennie Lee Padgett (89) was born October 1, 1928 to Leo and Hazel (Seeley) Padgett in Westcliffe, Colorado and passed from this life January 30, 2018 in Waurika, Oklahoma.

​After high school graduation, Bennie joined the U.S. Navy and was proud to serve aboard the USS Rupertus DD851 where he was a gunner’s mate and petty officer second class. ​He was united in marriage to Mary Ann James on December 20, 1950 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Harrah, Oklahoma. He and Mary Ann were the owners/operators of Harrah Lockers for twenty-six years where he did custom meat processing. Along with his love of playing golf, he was a great Christian man who loved his family and great-grandchildren with all of his heart. ​Even though Bennie and Mary Ann were members of St. Theresa Catholic Church, they attended the First Baptist Church in Waurika, Oklahoma where they made many friends and became part of the church’s family. Bennie is survived by his wife of sixty-six years Mary Ann Padgett of Hastings, Oklahoma.

Three daughters, Patricia and her husband Alan Conger of Tulsa, Oklahoma and their children: Allison and Leah and one great-grandchild, Trip Bendell.  Tamara and her husband Jeff Tabor of Choctaw, Oklahoma and their children: Michelle and her husband Jared Dyer, Katie and her husband Lance Coker, Cheyenne Owens and his wife Tara, Rebecca and her husband Adam Wilson and great-grand children, Ace and Jet Dyer, Marshall, Josie, and Lexie Owens and Marena Wilson. ​Pamela Padgett of Co. Springs, CO. ​ One brother, Lonnie Padgett of Colorado Springs, CO. and one sister, Lavada Stelter of Colorado Springs, CO ​One niece, Debra and her husband Rob Cheschier, and two nephews, Thomas Yeoman and his wife Teresa, Ken Yeoman and his wife Sherree.

Robbie Sue Overstreet

November 22, 1942 – April 14, 2018

Age: 75

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS – Robbie Sue Overstreet passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018 surrounded by her family, at the age of 75.

Graveside service: 1 p.m. Wednesday April 18, in Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Robbie was born on Nov. 22, 1942 to Jim and Daisy Stanford in Waurika, Okla.  She was the youngest of six children.  Robbie married James Overstreet in 1964 and they had two daughters, which she adored.  Her greatest pride were her four grandchildren.  Robbie spent over twenty years in the banking industry before she retired.  

She enjoyed studying Genealogy and visiting historical sites.  She will be deeply missed by her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and one sister.

Survivors:  Her loving husband of 54 years;  daughters, Christi Hudson of Fort Worth, Rebecca and husband, Monty Hukill of Southlake; sister, Margueriette Willison of Lancaster; special niece, Susan and Dan Price of Forney; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Hannah Hudson, Garrett and Reagan Hukill; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
