Dixie Fern Hammons Montgomery

Fern Montgomery, age 79, died Saturday, October 20, 2018, in Norman, Oklahoma surrounded by her family after a strongly fought battle with cancer. She was born December 21, 1938, in Center Point, Oklahoma to Paul B. and Ruth Hammons and was the middle of three children. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her brother, Paul Hammons and wife Barbara from Oklahoma City, sister Kay Brezina and husband Charles from Waurika, children Hal Stout and wife Sherrie, John Stout and wife Yavonna and their children Brooke and Connor, and Susan Howard and her children Brittyn and Barrett, all of Norman. 

Fern was a long time resident of Waurika, Oklahoma and graduated in 1956 from Waurika High School.  She enjoyed 18 years of employment with the district attorney’s office where she was honored for her dedication, work ethic, and integrity.  She will forever be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and faithful friend.   

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at 1:00 pm at McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church in Norman located at 419 South University Blvd, Norman, OK 73069.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to McFarlin to initiate a young adult program for individuals with autism. “We are who we are because of our mother, who gave us everything she could. Let our memories of our mother live on forever.”

Mary Yearley Taylor, 78, of Jolly, Texas, passed away on Friday, June 08, 2018.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am, on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at the Henrietta Church of Christ with Mr. Todd Davis officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery in Henrietta under the direction of Davis Funeral Home.

Mary was born on January 22, 1940 in Waurika, Oklahoma to Walter Henry and Helen Odell (Brantley) Yearley. She married William Leon Taylor on November 9, 1956 in Waurika, Oklahoma. Mary was a devoted member of the Henrietta Church of Christ and was a retired Registered Nurse. She enjoyed her time working as a Blue Angel volunteer at the Clay County Memorial Hospital in Henrietta. Mary was honored when chosen to serve as a Duchess on the 2002 Pioneer Queen float during the Clay County Pioneer Reunion.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband Leon Taylor; brother, Bill Yearley; sister, Margaret Andrews.

Survivors include her son Steve Taylor and wife Shelly of Henrietta, Texas; daughter, D. LeAnn Skinner and husband Ken Odom of Jolly; grandchildren, Stephanie Skinner of Jolly, Texas, Jessica Dunning and husband James of Dean, Texas, and Kasey Taylor of Lawton, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Michael Lenord Skinner and Violet Lucille Skinner; brother, Clarence Yearley and wife JoAnn of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

The family will be at Davis Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm.

Memorials may be made to the Henrietta Church of Christ at 101 S. Barnett, Henrietta, Texas 76365.

Joanna Walker Huff

Joanna Walker Huff, age 55, passed away June 13, 2018 in Olney, Texas. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018 in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home in Olney, Texas with Rev. David Carpenter, pastor of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Olney, officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney, Texas.

Joanna was born on December 6, 1962 in Sumter, South Carolina, Shaw AFB to Joe Austin Walker and Barbara Joan (Hall) Walker. She graduated from Olney High School in 1981 and was the Senior Class Favorite of her graduating class. She was a cheerleader, Drum Major for two years and played the clarinet in the High School Band. She was active in rodeo and was crowned Rodeo Queen in 1977. Joanna loved to sing and play the guitar and she loved her dogs. She married Allen Lee Huff on April 24, 1982 in Olney, Texas and they moved back to Olney in 2010. Joanna was preceded in death by her father, Joe A. Walker on June 29, 1999 and her husband, Allen Lee Huff on June 8, 2017.

Survivors include her mother, Barbara Walker of Olney, Texas; two daughters: Cathy Lorenz of Azle, Texas and Tammy Spangler of Vernon, Texas; one brother, Audy Vann Walker and wife Vickie of Graham, Texas; one niece, Lauren Sullivan of Olney, Texas; one nephew, Alex Walker of Lubbock, Texas; and six grandchildren.

Jonnie (Peck) Parker

Jonnie (Peck) Parker, 101, of Lawton, Oklahoma, passed from this life July 16, 2019. She was born June 10, 1918, in Duncan, Oklahoma, to Benjamin Grant and Clara Ann (Kunkel) Peck. She married Clyde L. Parker September 3, 1935, in Waurika, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death February 28, 2007. She worked as a teacher in the Claypool School and in administration and price support for the USDA.

She lived in Jefferson County, Oklahoma from 1925 to 2004. She belonged to the Nazarene Church and later the Methodist Church. She loved to sew and quilt. She always made sure every stitch was perfect. She sewed all of her girls’ clothes including Dortha’s wedding dress. She also loved reading her Bible every day.

Jonnie was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four siblings – Jack Davis Peck, Virgie Marie Peck Pollan, Donald Leroy Peck, and James Otis Peck, and her son-in-law.

Survivors include: two daughters – Ruth Klydene (Parker) Riggs of Alliance, OK, and Dortha Jean (Parker) and her husband Tom Biggs of Medicine Park, OK; one brother – B.G. Peck II of Duncan, OK; four grandchildren – Rickey Riggs, Tommy Riggs, Lesli Jacobs and Jake Jacobs; four great-grandchildren – Matthew Allen Riggs, Chase Parker Jacobs, Joshua Ryan Jacobs, and Bradley Reese Jacobs; and three great-great-grandchildren – Ryker Riggs, Everett Rebecca Jacobs and Lane Ryan Jacobs.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM, Thursday, July 18, 2019, at the First United Methodist Church in Waurika with Adam Brinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Waurika Cemetery under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls.

Ruben Mora

September 3, 1928 – December 17, 2022

Age: 94

Ruben Mora was born September 3, 1928 in Michigan to Bernabe’ H. and Francesca (Venezuela) Mora. He passed from this life Saturday,  December 17, 2022 at his home in Waurika at the age of 94. He and Virginia Lee (Dean) were married in Abilene, Texas on June 27, 1960. He served his country in the United States Air Force where he retired after 26 years of service.

After retirement he went to work in the automotive industry for Ford Motor Company promptly going into the nuclear industry working at various sites in many states including Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Missouri.  As the demand grew for his field of expertise he began a long career in the construction industry leading him to work in Iran and Saudi Arabia. Mr. Mora began his career allowing him to travel the world. At one time he held a membership of a Free Mason. He spent a lot of time keeping his yard neat and tidy and his favorite hobby was cutting gemstones. Ruben was a family man. His favorite pastime was being with family, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed nothing more than talking to anyone about them.  He and Virginia attended Addington Baptist church before his health declined.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

He is survived by his wife Virginia. His children, Vivee Anthony and husband Billy, Guy Mora and wife Shelly and Scott Mora and wife Katherine, 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 1 on the way. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and extended family that are very dear to his immediate family.

Memorial services for Mr. Mora will be Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 11:00 am at Addington Baptist Church with bubba Clark officiating.

Bruce Alan “Snake” Ramsey

Bruce Alan “Snake” Ramsey

July 7, 1954 – November 25, 2022

Age: 68

Services for Bruce Alan “Snake” Ramsey of Terral will be conducted at 2:00PM on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at Scott-Morris Funeral Home in Nocona with Gary Davidson officiating. 

Bruce was born on July 7, 1954 in Nocona to Henry Allen ramsey, Jr. and Ada Belle (Hughes) Ramsey.  He passed away in Wichita Falls on November 25, 2022 at the age of 68. 

Mr. Ramsey graduated as salutatorian from Terral High School in 1972.  He worked for Burlington Northern Santa Fe and as a supervisor for Libbey-Owens-Ford in Sherman, Texas, later retiring as a laborer.  He liked to tinker with model trains and build furniture and other things.  He especially loved jamming out to music and playing his guitar.  

Mr. Ramsey was preceded in death by his father in 1992 and brother David Michael Ramsey in 2012. He is survived by his daughter Jennifer Ramsey of Oregon and her children, Drake and Emma; his daughter HannaH Ramsey of Pennsylvania and her children Ava and Bristol;  his son Justin Poage of Oklahoma and children Devon, Allysa, Kayla, Briar, and Kinley; his mother Ada Belle Ramsey of Terral, brother Jerry Ramsey of Nocona, sister Kathy Ramsey of Terral, and several nieces and nephews.  

There will be a private family burial at a later date.  Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Poage, Kevin Ramsey, Charlie Reynolds and Drake Campbell. 

Tommy Cale Richardson

Tommy Cale Richardson, 65, of Waurika, Oklahoma, passed from this life June 28, 2018. He was born January 21, 1953, in Comanche, Oklahoma, to Kendrick Junior and Margaret (Peterson) Richardson. He was a farmer. He was a ham radio afficionado, spending hours at his radio. He had his general license and was a member of the ham radio club. He loved to fish and hike and play with his dog.

He is survived by his parents Kendrick Junior and Margaret Richardson of Waurika, OK, his brother Jeffrey Richardson of Medicine Park, OK, a niece Ashley and her husband Andy Moen of Waurika, OK, and two great nieces Alexia and Jasmine.

Graveside services were held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at the Waurika Cemetery with Bro. Mike Bates officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Waurika.

Leslie Weldon Fuller

October 6, 1925 – April 21, 2018

Age: 92

Leslie Weldon Fuller, 92 of Ryan, OK, passed away from this life Saturday April 21, 2018 in Duncan, Ok.  He was born October 6, 1925 to A.R. (Jack) Fuller and Daisy (Cook) Fuller. He lived a long glorious life with lots of friends and family.  He met the love of his life, Evelyn (Peck) Fuller in 1946 and then married her on  June 15, 1947.  They moved all over Oklahoma and come to settle in Ryan in 1977.  He worked as a brick mason most of his life until he retired at age 82.  

Weldon was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn, both his parents, 4 sisters – Faye Martindale, Inez Brink, Margie Smith, and Billie Johnson; 3 brothers – Raymond Fuller, Darrel (Wig) Fuller, and Harrel Fuller, and a Great Grandson Leslie Smith.  

Survivors include 2 daughters – Patricia Cox and Janet Castillo; 3 Granddaughters – Cydney Metz, Allison (Carr) Bergad, and Tiphanie ( Smith) Allen; 1 grandson – Chris Dreier; 5 Great-granddaughters – Ryan Metz, Abigail Dreier, Makala Woodard, Jordan Woodard, and Aspyn Allen; 2 great-grandsons – Rowdy Allen and Bennett Bergad; 2 sisters – Lou Long and Jo Uland; 1 brother -Charlie Fuller, and lots of nieces and nephews.  

He will be missed by many and was loved by many more.

Michael C Dyer

Michael C. Dyer, 63, of Waurika, Oklahoma, passed from this life May 17, 2018, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was born January 16, 1955, in Waurika,Oklahoma, to A.C. and Bobby Sue (Tate) Dyer. He was a 1972 graduate of Ryan High School. He and Joanna Schaffner were married February 17, 1975 in Dean, Texas. He was a farmer/rancher and worked for Halliburton for eighteen years. He was a member of the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association and the First Baptist Church in Waurika. His passion was being outside with his animals and crops. He loved his family and enjoyed horseback riding, fishing, camping, and spending time with his grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Shirley Thomasson.

Survivors include: his wife Joanna; his children Jared Dyer and wife Michelle, and Karen Wright and husband Lonnie; grandchildren Taylir Wright, Haley Wright, Jacob C. Wright, Ace Lee Dyer, and Jet Michael Dyer; his sister Diane York; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM, Sunday, May 20, 2018, at the First Baptist Church in Waurika, Oklahoma with Mark Kunkel and Bruce Humphries officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM at Dudley Funeral Home in Waurika with family receiving guests from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
