Charlene Gaye (McCarty) Bittick, 88, passed from this life March 27, 2019, she was born September 25, 1930, in the Heights Hospital in Houston, Texas. Charlene was first born to Melvin James and Cleo (Morris) McCarty of Baytown, Texas. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and Lee College in Baytown, Texas, and then attended Texas Women’s College in Denton, Texas. Charlene married George “Bruce” Bittick in Las Cruces, New Mexico in 1954. To this union four children and one grandchild were born: Celeste, Chris, Cynthia, Mel, and grand-daughter Cameron.
Charlene was a real estate broker for Remax in the DFW metroplex for many years. In every station of her life, from early schooling to retirement in 1996, an entourage of newly made friends was created. A generous nature, and love for improving the lives of those less fortunate led to her creation of Irving Aide, an organization for helping those less fortunate, when the economic downturn in the 1980’s devastated a large segment of the population in the southwest. Her generous nature, love for those she met daily and that just needed a helping hand, gave her great satisfaction on an almost daily basis.
Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, children Celeste McLean and Chris Bittick, and a sister Edna Lou Green.
She is survived by: her husband Bruce of the home in Irving, Oklahoma; children Mel Bittick and wife Holly of Wylie, Texas and Cynthia Bittick of Sierra Vista, Arizona; a sister Melva Cathriner of Baytown, Texas; and grand-daughter Cameron Bittick.
