Charlene Gaye (McCarty) Bittick

Charlene Gaye (McCarty) Bittick, 88, passed from this life March 27, 2019, she was born September 25, 1930, in the Heights Hospital in Houston, Texas. Charlene was first born to Melvin James and Cleo (Morris) McCarty of Baytown, Texas. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and Lee College in Baytown, Texas, and then attended Texas Women’s College in Denton, Texas. Charlene married George “Bruce” Bittick in Las Cruces, New Mexico in 1954. To this union four children and one grandchild were born: Celeste, Chris, Cynthia, Mel, and grand-daughter Cameron. 

Charlene was a real estate broker for Remax in the DFW metroplex for many years. In every station of her life, from early schooling to retirement in 1996, an entourage of newly made friends was created. A generous nature, and love for improving the lives of those less fortunate led to her creation of Irving Aide, an organization for helping those less fortunate, when the economic downturn in the 1980’s devastated a large segment of the population in the southwest. Her generous nature, love for those she met daily and that just needed a helping hand, gave her great satisfaction on an almost daily basis. 

Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, children Celeste McLean and Chris Bittick, and a sister Edna Lou Green.

She is survived by: her husband Bruce of the home in Irving, Oklahoma; children Mel Bittick and wife Holly of Wylie, Texas and Cynthia Bittick of Sierra Vista, Arizona; a sister Melva Cathriner of Baytown, Texas; and grand-daughter Cameron Bittick. 

Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM, March 30, 2019, at the Church of Christ in Ryan, Oklahoma, with Loyd Newton II and David Wingfield officiating. Age: 78

Eula Faye Tanner, age 78, a longtime resident of Terral, peacefully passed away on Friday, March 2, 2018 in Wichita Falls, TX.  A funeral service was held Tuesday, March 6th at 2:00 p.m. at the Terral Baptist Church, with Bro. Mark Kunkel officiating.  Interment followed at Terral Cemetery, under the direction of Terral Funeral Home.  The family will be receiving friends on Monday evening, 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Faye was born October 12, 1939 in Nocona, TX to Newell and Helen (Roper) Weaver.  She and Royce “Sissie” Tanner were united in marriage on June 15,  1958 in Gainesville, TX. Faye worked as a clerk at the Terral Mini Mart for many years.  She was a member of the Terral Baptist Church.

Survivors include her two children: Wayne Wyler and wife Carol, Ryan, OK and Norma Dugan and husband Randell, Henrietta, TX; four grandchildren: Tanner Dugan and Monica Dugan, both of Henrietta, TX, and J.R. Wyler and Jennifer Wyler, both of Waurika, OK; three great-grandchildren: Annabelle Wyler, David Wyler, and Oate Wyler; one Brother, Willard Weaver; and other relatives and friends.

Faye was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one daughter, Joyce Mullins; and two great-grandsons.

Bennie Lee Padgett (89) was born October 1, 1928 to Leo and Hazel (Seeley) Padgett in Westcliffe, Colorado and passed from this life January 30, 2018 in Waurika, Oklahoma.

​After high school graduation, Bennie joined the U.S. Navy and was proud to serve aboard the USS Rupertus DD851 where he was a gunner’s mate and petty officer second class. ​He was united in marriage to Mary Ann James on December 20, 1950 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Harrah, Oklahoma. He and Mary Ann were the owners/operators of Harrah Lockers for twenty-six years where he did custom meat processing. Along with his love of playing golf, he was a great Christian man who loved his family and great-grandchildren with all of his heart. ​Even though Bennie and Mary Ann were members of St. Theresa Catholic Church, they attended the First Baptist Church in Waurika, Oklahoma where they made many friends and became part of the church’s family. Bennie is survived by his wife of sixty-six years Mary Ann Padgett of Hastings, Oklahoma.

Three daughters, Patricia and her husband Alan Conger of Tulsa, Oklahoma and their children: Allison and Leah and one great-grandchild, Trip Bendell.  Tamara and her husband Jeff Tabor of Choctaw, Oklahoma and their children: Michelle and her husband Jared Dyer, Katie and her husband Lance Coker, Cheyenne Owens and his wife Tara, Rebecca and her husband Adam Wilson and great-grand children, Ace and Jet Dyer, Marshall, Josie, and Lexie Owens and Marena Wilson. ​Pamela Padgett of Co. Springs, CO. ​ One brother, Lonnie Padgett of Colorado Springs, CO. and one sister, Lavada Stelter of Colorado Springs, CO ​One niece, Debra and her husband Rob Cheschier, and two nephews, Thomas Yeoman and his wife Teresa, Ken Yeoman and his wife Sherree.

Age: 65

Louie “Sonny” Aaron Dabbs, 65, of Ryan, Oklahoma, passed from this life Thursday, March 22, 2018, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was born September 8, 1952, in Waurika, Oklahoma, to Lewie Elston and Wanda Lou (Fuller) Dabbs. He and Sherrie Webster were married April 21, 1974, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He worked in the Halliburton Shipping Department and as a farm hand for Keith Hall. He loved to fish and was devoted to his kids, grandkinds and great-grandkids. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Sonny was preceded in death by his dad Lewie Dabbs, two sisters – Linnie Dabbs and Louise Knight, and one brother – Loyd Dabbs.

Survivors include: his wife Sherrie Dabbs, of the home in Ryan, OK; his mother Wanda Long; his children – Tina Overton of Tulsa, OK, Jeffery Dabbs of Ryan, OK, and Donald Dabbs of Ryan, OK; his brothers David Dabbs of Ryan, OK, Randy Vaden of Vernon, TX, and Lewie Dabbs II of Shawnee, OK; his sisters Susie Brown of Ryan, OK, Joann Knight of Ryan, OK, Sandy Knight of Wilburton, OK, Lisa Dollons of Shawnee, OK, and Robin Dabbs of Shawnee, OK; grandchildren – Evan Clark, Wesley Clark, Alexa Clark, Katelynn Dabbs, Logan Dabbs, and Maddox Dabbs; and great-grandchild – Elliot-Rose Michelle Clark.

Graveside services was 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at the Ryan Cemetery in Ryan, Oklahoma with Ricky Phillips officiating. Services are under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Ryan. Visitation was Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Dudley Funeral Home Chapel in Ryan. Pallbearers were Harold Burden, Chucky Johnson, Dale Ray Williams, Rowdy Knight, Kenny Brown, Richard Duncan, Dustin Bryant, and Rodney Burden.

Glenna Margaret Christian

Funeral services for Glenna Margaret Christian, 86, were at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 23, in the Centennial Chapel of the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home with Reverend Terry Tolbert officiating.  Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.

The daughter of the late Glen and Florence Walls Edwards, Glenna was born July 5, 1932, in Waurika, Oklahoma and went to be with her Lord and Savior October 20, 2018, surrounded by her family.

A graduate of Waurika High School, she and Vernon Dean Christian were married February 11, 1952, in Wichita Falls, Texas and he preceded her death on August 2, 2010.  Also preceding her in death were her sister Edna Keele and brother Jerry Pat Edwards.

Glenna worked for Memorial Hospital in Ardmore in medical records, and then went to KKAJ Radio and finished her career with Cablecom of Ardmore.  She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, and enjoyed the outdoors and gardening.

Glenna is survived by her children, Karen Stowe and husband Richard “Dicky” of Tahlequah; Vernon “Duane” Christian and wife Terry  and Deana Mendenall and husband Alan all of Ardmore; her grandchildren, Kari Hill and Husband Eric of Pryor; Jessika McKaskle and husband Jordy, Carl Junction, MO; Kyle Christian and wife Karrie of Oklahoma City; Misty Mendenall of Ardmore; and Chris Mendenall and wife Josie of Durant; great-grandchildren; MaKenzie  and Zane Hill; Piper and Haddon McKaskle; Sam, Max and Landri Mendenall and Kinsley and Kooper Christian.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorials be made in Glenna’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, Cross Timbers Hospice or Trinity Baptist Church.

Sandra Lee (Whitmore) Cerney

Sandra Lee (Whitmore) Cerney, 74, of Waurika, Oklahoma, passed from this life Saturday, May 25, 2018. She was born March 27, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois, to Carl and Bertha (Elliott) Whitmore. Sandra worked in long-term care facilities for over thirty years. She was a collector of knick knacks, roosters were her favorites.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Charles Porter.

Survivors include: her son Charles “Chuck” Porter and his wife Billie; sister Florence Giles; grandchildren Charlie and Amanda; and two great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at the Waurika Cemetery with Mike Bates officiating.

Randy Jack Ryan

Randy Jack Ryan, 63, of Tishomingo, Oklahoma, passed from this life April 29, 2019. He was born February 4, 1956, in Ada, Oklahoma, to Clarence E. “Jack” and Lida E. (Boyles) Ryan. He married Joanna Hall in Ryan, Oklahoma May 21, 1983. He graduated from Tishomingo High School in Tishomingo, Oklahoma in 1974 and attended Murray State College and the University of Oklahoma. He graduated from OU College of Dentistry in 1982. He opened a private practice in Ryan, where he met Joanna Hall. After marrying, they worked in the dental clinic together. Randy and Joanna moved to Tishomingo in 1991, and continued working together. After Ryan they had dental practices in Tishomingo and Madill. Tishomingo Family Dentistry closed in 2014, due to Randy’s declining health. He loved his job in dentistry. He was a member of the church of Christ. He also had great memories hunting, fishing, and camping with his dad, uncle, and family. 

He was preceded in death by his wife Joanna, his parents, and father-in-law Gerald Hall.

Survivors include: his daughter Lida Fay and her husband Adam McGee of Abilene, TX; his brother Billy Ryan and his wife Kelly; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and loved ones.

Graveside services were held at 2:30 PM May 5, 2019, at the Ryan Cemetery in Ryan, Oklahoma, under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home of Ryan. Visitation was held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Saturday, May 4, at the Dudley Funeral Home Chapel in Ryan, Oklahoma. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Starfish Foundation in memory of Randy Ryan, P.O. Box 3696 Wichita Falls, Texas 76301.

Phillip Keith Stephens

Phillip Keith Stephens, 69, of Waurika, Oklahoma, passed from this life September 15, 2018, at the Westbrook Care Center in Waurika. He was born December 1, 1948, in the Fleetwood Community near Terral, Oklahoma, to Raymond Loyd and Marion Eula (Keith) Stephens. He was employed in the construction business, mostly on military bases, and drove for the Red River Transportation Services. He liked fishing and building things and was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd and Marion Stephens, one sister Nelda Tumlin and one brother Kenneth Stephens.

Survivors include: his children – Donna Stephens and Rick Malcom, Phillip Keith Stephens, Jr. and Kim, and Christy Ann Stephens; his siblings – Ronnie Mac Stephens, Dennis Ray Stephens, Mary King, Linda Stephens, Jackie Pratt, Yvonne Ann Esquibel, Teresa Hernandez and Alta Hernandez; his grandchildren – Ricky Lee Hill, Cory Scott Hill, Kayla Renee Malcom, Sessions Marie Thompson, Harold Ray Thompson, Tyler Keith Stephens, Briann Nicole Stephens, Phillip Aaron Stephens, and Destiny Marion Stephens; his great-grandchildren – Braden Hill, Colton Hill, Kale Hill, Amy Lee Hill, Cadence Elaine Hill, Remington Wayne Hill, Angelina Caryn Etheridge, Heston Trent Ethridge, and Camdyn Lee Morris, Cady and Abriann Tallon; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at the Terral Cemetery with Mark Kunkel officiating. Visitation was from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday, September 17, 2018, at the Terral Funeral Home in Terral. Memorial contributions may be sent to the First Baptist Church of Terral.

C.E. “Gene” Sanders, 81, Hastings, OK

Celebration of Life Memorial Service at Hastings Baptist Church, Saturday, June 16 at 10:00 a.m. with Ronnie Bohot officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters.

C.E. “Gene” Sanders Jr., also known as Bud, was born to Crate Eugene and Emma Frances (Patterson) Sanders on August 10, 1936 at Amarillo, TX and departed this life in Duncan, OK on June 8, 2018 at the age of 81 years, 9 months and 29 days.

Gene grew up in Westville, OK. At age 18 he moved to Glendale, CA, living with a cousin. There he met Mary Lou Ripley and they later married on February 14, 1956 at Glendale. They eventually made their way to Coolidge, AZ, where they lived until moving to Hastings, OK in 1972. Gene spent most of his life as a cross country trucker. He also worked at Pinal County Sheriff’s office, Arizona State Prison in Florence, was a dredge operator for TXI sand plant, and did farming and harvesting with Tiner Bohot and others through the years. He enjoyed fishing, mowing and his dogs. 

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Debbi Timms; his son-in-law, Jerry Busby; 4 sisters, Inez, Lois, Frankie and Vera; and his brother, Billy.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou, of the home; his daughter, Jimmie Busby of Waurika, OK; his son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Faith Sanders of Arcadia, OK; 7 grandchildren, Jeremy Sanders of Tulsa, Josh Sanders and Karissa Minson both of Oklahoma City, Preston Glasgow of Temple, Randi Berry of Waurika, Ryan Busby of Woodward and Camron Busby of Waurika; 17 great grandchildren; close friends Glenda and Harvey, other friends and relatives.

Age: 60

James Michel, 60, of Roland, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018 in Fort Smith, Ark.  He was born February 26, 1958 in St. Marys, Pa., to the late John and Essie Michel.  He was a carpenter, and attended Butterfield Assembly of God Church in Van Buren, Ark.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lois Collins and Rose Marie Michel; and two brothers, Tim and Donnie Michel.

 He is survived by his wife, Diana Michel of the home; his step mother Frances Michel of Waurika; his god-mother Rose Belsole of St. Mary’s, PA; his mother-in-law Lucille Goforth of Van Buren, Arkansas; his daughter Crystal Box of Van Buren, Ark.; two sons, Aaron Michel of Alma, Ark., and Brian Oder and wife Brandi of Checotah; a sister, Mary Burden and husband Ted of Wilson; five brothers, John Michel and wife Betsy of Maypearl, Texas, Tom Michel and wife Jamie of Comanche, Leo Michel and wife Kandi of Holliday, Texas, Bill Michel and wife Diana of Comanche, and Bob Michel of Waurika; three grandchildren; and two furbabies, Jake and Precious.

 Cremation is under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, Ark.   A memorial service will be held at a later date.

 Family-hosted memorial will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Butterfield Assembly of God Church in Van Buren.  Cremation is under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
