Age: 82

Patsy Ann Baker Mounger was born December 7, 1935, and she passed from this life on February 14, 2018 in her home with her husband and daughters by her side.  She was 82 years old when she was taken home to be with her Savior, whom she had faithfully served.

A celebration of her life will be held on February 24th at 10 a.m. at the Waurika church of Christ.

Pat was an extremely talented and diverse woman.   Her greatest joy was caring for her family and making for them a wonderful home.  Her home was known for amazing food and fun times.  It was always open to friends, family, and strangers, and no one ever left there without a smile and a full stomach.  Some of Pat’s other endeavors were raising parakeets, selling insurance, helping David on the farm/ranch, owning a small retail store, teaching Bible class, writing books and poetry, and being an inspirational speaker.  Her speaking adventures lead her to almost every state in the United States and even as far as South Africa.  In 1983, she went back to school to obtain a degree in Elementary Education.  She taught fifth grade for 10 years in Comanche, Oklahoma.  These were years she cherished greatly.  She was so loved by her students that upon graduation, her first class of students requested that she be the keynote speaker.   This was just one of many highlights in Pat’s life.

She was born Patsy Ann Thomas, the daughter of Luther Thomas and Lorine Chapman Thomas.  From Lorine she learned to be a fantastic cook and from Luther she learned to love life and to bring joy to many.  She was her Daddy’s daughter right up to the end.

She graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1954.  She began her college education at Abilene Christian College.  After raising a family, she resumed her education at Cameron University, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education in 1985.

She married David Clyde Baker, II on November 22, 1956. She and David raised three daughters, Melody Tyler, Lori Reynolds and Vonnita Croy.   To those three daughters were born four granddaughters and two grandsons.  Some of her greatest memories are of family gatherings at their home on the ranch in Sugden, Oklahoma with all the children and grandchildren around her.  David preceded her in death, passing from this life on December 18, 2000.  He and Patsy were married for 44 years.

Pat married Kevin Mounger on June 3, 2005.  She and Kevin made a home for themselves in the Dallas, Texas area.  From the time they met until the time of her passing, they enjoyed almost 5000 days together, and he held her hand as she took her final breaths at their home in Arlington, Texas.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Betty Baccuss, and her husband, David Baker.

Survivors include her husband, Kevin Mounger of the home, three children and their spouses, Melody and Steve Tyler, Lori and Jimmy Reynolds, Vonnita Croy and Chuck Croy, and a foster son and his spouse, Allen and Elaine Davis, two stepchildren and their spouses, Matthew and Jennifer Mounger and Amy and Chris Garrett, six  grandchildren, Daryl Tyler, Stephanie Tyler Madden, Whitney Reynolds Brown, Heather Reynolds McGaw, DaVee Croy Deaton, and Caleb Croy, four step-grandchildren, Savanah and Chandler Mounger and Hayden and Leo Garrett, and four great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Clark Brown, Shelby McGaw and Tyler Madden.

She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, family members and friends, as well as a countless number of acquaintances whose lives she made brighter, if only for a moment.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Westview Boys Home, In Memory of Patsy Baker Mounger, P.O. Box 553, Hollis, OK  73550.
